Gerwin represents a new generation of landscape architects who see design as more than aesthetics. For him, it is about restoring and strengthening living natural systems. He believes in designing robust landscapes that make a meaningful contribution to urgent transitions around climate, biodiversity, land use and food systems. At Flux, Gerwin leads the design vision, bringing together knowledge, design research and imagination.
In 2006, he won the Archiprix International. He is also a guest tutor at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture and is a jury member for the Golden Pyramid, the Groningen Architecture Prize and the Breda Architecture Prize.
